Being pregnant means that your body takes on the role of being the incubator for a small human being. As your baby grows, it can change your body in a lot of weighs, but it can also put a lot of stress and pressure on your back. Some women who have never had issues with back pain in their life will start to have discomfort and even almost debilitating pain when they are expecting a child. Be especially mindful of how you carry yourself, walk, and sit. 

The change in the weight distribution of your body because of your growing abdomen can automatically make you slump a little more when you sit or hunch over a little when you walk, both of which can contribute to back pain. In site of the change in your body's shape, make sure you are mindful of how you carry yourself and try to maintain good posture at all times. Keep your shoulders back and relaxed with your chest forward and avoid slumping when you sit down in a chair. 

Make sure you wear shoes that offer enough support. 

Those heels that you normally wear or even those flip-flops you prefer because your feet are swollen are not the best footwear choices while pregnant. If your feet are not aptly supported by your shoes, it can change how you walk and make it harder on your spine and the muscles in your back. Opt for footwear that offers ample arch and heel support and steer clear of heels and other shoes that have minimal support for your feet. 

Start each day with a few back-stretching exercises. 

Some of the pain in your back during pregnancy will be relative to tension and strain on one of the many muscle groups in the area. Carrying the new weight can be like a daily workout on these muscles, so it is always a good idea to start the day by warming these muscle groups through gentle back-stretching exercises. These are simple exercises that give the different muscle groups a good warm-up before your day starts so you are less likely to feel pain or stress in the area as the day wears on.
